Dominic Cassinerio

Dominic Cassinerio

Dominic Cassinerio (bass) can’t remember a time when music wasn’t a part of his life. Still in the womb, he grooved to the beat of his mom’s step-aerobics class and listened to the classical music she insisted would influence her unborn child.

As a toddler, his Dad cranked AC/DC, Kiss, Guns n’ Roses, Motely Crue and Aerosmith while driving his Chevy pick-up around town. At the age of three, Dominic insisted on bringing his favorite toy – a purple plastic guitar to his Aunt’s wedding reception. It would be his first documented “gig.”

While not yet picking up a bass guitar, Dominic initially learned to play instruments such as the cello, trumpet, percussion, and tuba while developing a preference for metal and rock. In the 9th grade, the jazz band teacher asked if anyone was interested in learning to play the bass – and his Mom quickly volunteered him. That Thanksgiving, Dominic heard an in-flight recording of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on a plane ride to New Jersey and his musical taste changed forever. He quickly became immersed in practicing every free moment and his skills quickly blossomed.

Through a friend, his Mom would later arrange bass lessons from Pat Benatar’s bassist, Mick Mahan, and drove him 80 miles round trip, every other week, to Visalia during his junior year. Dominic continued to play with several different bands and eventually re-connected with Mercy Fist former drummer Kaleb Smith whom he had known since the 3rd grade.

In May of 2013, he was asked to join the band.
