Chris Hudiburgh

Christopher Hudiburgh

Christopher Alexander Hudiburgh is a songwriter and lead vocalist for the rock band Mercy Fist. As early as the age of 2, Christopher showed an interest in playing the guitar. He would watch a video of the life of Ritchie Valens over and over to see and mimic “La Bamba”. But it wasn’t until his early teens, that a bad break became an opportunity for the future.

At the age of 12, Christopher was involved in a skateboarding accident that left him in a wheel chair. Feeling depressed and unmotivated Chris found an old Classical Acoustic Guitar lying around his Mom’s room. Over the next 6 months of healing, Chris taught himself the basics of guitar. Against Mom’s and the Doctor’s wishes, Chris tried out for his High school football team. Two weeks into the season Chris had another freak accident… A helmet to the shin broke both the tibia and the fibula and sent him right back to the hospital. Determined to stay busy, Chris found himself playing guitar again but this time with more of a purpose. Using a Washburn Electric Guitar that his grandmother bought for him at Sears, Chris started learning how to play Nirvana. At 16 Chris would form his first band, “Quest 2 Zion”. They entered a battle of the bands at the Palace in Hollywood and took 1st. place. This was the point where the musician became the performer.

After Graduating in 2003, Chris went through some intense personal struggles that eventually led him away from the music he loved so much. So painful in fact, Chris even sold all his guitars and equipment. Chris felt his world spiraling downwards but one night he cried out to God asking him to take all his pain away, restore his life and to make him whole.

God answered Chris’s prayers that night.

Fast forward several months and Chris was introduced to a man named Micah Foster at Church, where he would be reintroduced to his passion for music and performing. Chris went to a local pawn shop with $100 in his pocket and bought an Ibanez Bass and started playing music again. As Faith would have it, Chris would be playing alongside the talented drummer Kaleb Smith and then later would be introduced to a young guitarist, Brett Posch.

Thanks to the love and support of Family and Faith in God, Mercy Fist was born.
